Laura Haarla, a young Finnish woman, escapes from an enigmatic love affair with her professor Irina (Dirana Drukarova) in Moscow by boarding a train to the arctic port of Murmansk. Her intention: to see the petroglyphs – mysterious rock drawings, thousands of years old. Forced to share a small sleeper compartment on the long journey with an obnoxious Russian miner, the unexpected encounter leads the occupants of Compartment no 6 to face the truth about their own yearning for human connection.
